SEO Meets AI

He builds the Find Engine.

Viktor is the founder and CTO of Earthgrid. He calls himself a technology optimizer. He finds where a system's promise and its behavior part ways, and he builds the tool that works in that gap.

He started in 6502 assembly, where every byte counts. In 1996 he ranked the same site in all ten positions on a search results page. Today he builds with AI. He describes what the code should do, the AI writes it, and he reads it and fixes it.

He does not treat AI as an employee. To him it is a pattern synthesizer, and it does its best work when you feed it about five times more than you ask of it. He wrote the book AI Assembly Language.

What Viktor is building

Earthgrid is a Find Engine. It is not a search engine.

A search engine has turned into a contest. You are up against your competitors, fighting for attention. A Find Engine is a place to get found.

  • Old school, on purpose

You list yourself, using the best SEO practices. Your listing stays yours, and you can leave whenever you choose.

  • Driven by community

Earthgrid does not run on advertising. It runs on the community that uses it, so nobody can buy their way to the top.

  • Ranked by context

Your ranking comes from context and relevance. Power and authority do not decide where you land.

Bob Heyman

He helped name SEO, when it was still a verb.

In the summer of 1995 Bob ran audience development at Cybernautics. The manager of Jefferson Starship called him at three in the morning, because the band's new website was nowhere near the top of a search for its own name.

The team worked out that ranking followed keyword frequency, and the site went to number one. Bob and a colleague gave that work its name: search engine optimization.

Thirty years later he is still doing it. His agency, Digital Engagement Group, was the first certified to resell Earthgrid. It does search optimization and the newer work of getting named by AI models. Bob also wrote a book on getting a return from online marketing, and short guides on SEO for small businesses and for authors.
